2027 Arctic Cat Alterra 600 TRV EPS

The 2027 Arctic Cat Alterra 600 TRV EPS is the factory two-up utility ATV in Arctic Cat’s 600-class lineup. It has a real passenger position with a backrest, hand grips and footrests, plus electronic power steering, selectable 4WD with a front diff lock and a standard synthetic-rope winch. That is a more complete package than attaching a passenger cushion to a single-seat ATV. At $10,499 U.S. MSRP, the question is whether this particular mix of two-person comfort and work equipment is worth its size and final dealer price.

This is a specification-based buyer’s review of the Red A2027ALQ2PUSR configuration on Arctic Cat’s 2027 U.S. product page. It is not a claim that we rode the machine or tested it with a passenger. The 2027 lineup announcement clarifies the base TRV EPS and Limited equipment differences.

Two seats are the point, not an afterthought

Arctic Cat builds the TRV around two riders. The passenger sits behind the operator with a backrest, multiple hand-grip positions and separate footrests. That does not mean every pair of adults will fit comfortably. Sit on the exact ATV together before buying, check that the passenger can hold the grips and keep both feet planted, and leave enough room for the operator to shift position and steer freely. Follow the operator’s manual and labels for passenger requirements and loading.

The 58-inch wheelbase and 96.2-inch overall length give this machine a much longer footprint than a compact solo ATV. Width is 48.8 inches. Measure a trailer, gates and any posted trail-width limits instead of assuming a machine described as an ATV fits. Arctic Cat’s 853 lb dry weight excludes at least some ready-to-ride fluids and is not directly comparable with a competitor’s curb or wet figure. With a passenger aboard, careful speed and line choice matter more than a claim about how agile the empty vehicle feels.

Engine, drive and handling hardware

The 597cc liquid-cooled single uses EFI and Arctic Cat’s Trailbloc automatic CVT, with high, low, neutral, reverse and park. Low range is the sensible choice for slow work or a careful climb with added load. A handlebar control selects 2WD or 4WD, and the front differential can be locked when traction calls for it. The rear differential is listed as locked. EPS should reduce steering effort at slow speeds, especially with two people or a loaded rack, though it cannot overcome poor tire grip or an overloaded vehicle.

Arctic Cat’s feature art refers to a 45 hp engine, but its current U.S. technical table does not give a dedicated horsepower rating for this exact configuration. We show approximately 45 hp in the catalog as an estimate drawn from that manufacturer marketing, not as an independently measured output. It should not settle a comparison against a rival’s verified rating.

Arched double A-arms provide 8.75 inches of travel front and rear, with 10.75 inches of ground clearance under the published measurement. The base EPS model wears 25-inch tires on steel wheels. Hydraulic discs brake at both ends. These are credible trail and property-use dimensions, but suspension travel and clearance are not permission to keep the same pace over rocks once the passenger and cargo have added weight.

Useful work equipment, with limits to respect

The model-specific standard-accessories list includes a 3,500 lb synthetic-rope winch, a front bumper and tow hooks, composite racks, storage reachable by the operator, and a 2-inch rear receiver. The winch rating describes pulling capability under its own conditions; it is not the tow rating. Arctic Cat rates the ATV to tow 1,050 lb and gives the front and rear racks separate 100 lb and 200 lb limits. Its published total capacity is 600 lb.

Think of those numbers as overlapping guardrails. The combined weight of two occupants, protective gear, accessories, rack cargo and trailer tongue load needs to stay within the applicable limits in the current manual. You cannot add 600, 100 and 200 together to invent more capacity. A passenger and loaded racks also move the center of gravity and lengthen stopping distances. The 4.8-gallon tank, full-length skid plate, sport gauge, halogen headlights and LED rear brake/tail light make it practical for a long day, but none of them changes the load math.

Price, warranty and the Limited decision

Arctic Cat’s U.S. page shows $10,499 MSRP, plus $650 freight and a $500 dealer setup fee in its pricing disclosure. Those displayed amounts total $11,649 before tax, title, registration and other possible charges. The company says the dealer sets the final sale price, so get a written out-the-door quote. The product specifications list a 12-month standard warranty. A separate Fall Adventures promotion advertises a 24-month limited factory warranty for qualifying 2027 Alterra purchases made August 1 through September 30, 2026; do not treat that short-lived offer as permanent coverage.

The 2027 Alterra 600 TRV Limited starts at $11,599 MSRP. Arctic Cat’s launch announcement identifies its 27-inch tires, aluminum wheels, LED accent lighting, premium bodywork and upgraded front bumper. The base TRV EPS already lists a 3,500 lb winch, so the Limited should not be justified merely as the way to get a winch. Price both actual configurations if the taller tires and added trim matter to you.

For another current two-up alternative, the 2027 Polaris Sportsman Touring 600 has a removable passenger seat, a published 1,350 lb tow rating and a higher MSRP in our catalog. Those are useful distinctions, but compare manufacturer loading rules and final dealer quotes before deciding that one is the better work partner. The TRV EPS’s strongest case is clear: factory two-rider accommodation, EPS, diff lock and winch without stepping up to the Limited. Its tradeoffs are its long, heavy footprint and the fact that two people use up the payload budget quickly. Arctic Cat labels it for riders age 16 and older; both people need proper protective gear, and the passenger belongs only in the designed seat.
